Stan Alieke, the lawyer representing singer Speed Darlington, has expressed frustration over the prolonged detention of his client despite a court order granting him bail.

Darlington, who was arrested on November 27, 2024, on allegations of cyberstalking Burna Boy, has been unable to secure his release, even after the Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail on December 23.

In an update shared on Friday, Alieke claimed he has made every possible effort to ensure Darlington’s release, including reaching out to political contacts in Abuja, but the police have refused to obey the court’s order.

Alieke further accused the police of acting in contempt of the court ruling, which has sparked outrage among Darlington’s supporters.

In a video posted on Instagram, the lawyer suggested that Burna Boy may have influenced the situation by bribing the police to prevent Darlington’s release.

He recounted an earlier encounter in October when Burna Boy allegedly shared large sums of cash with the police, further raising suspicions about the integrity of the ongoing case.

Alieke’s comments highlight the growing frustration surrounding the case and call into question the actions of law enforcement in ignoring the court’s decision.
