The African Action Congress (AAC) has asked President Bola Tinubu to approve the use of the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, while also requesting food, drinks and logistical support for 5,000 participants.

The party proposed November 11, 2026, for the ceremony in honour of its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, according to a letter dated October 21, 2026, and addressed to the President at the Presidential Villa.

The letter was signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, who said the requests were made in preparation for the 2027 general elections and in the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

The party also requested refreshments and other logistical arrangements for the 5,000 participants expected at the event, including supporters from Nigeria and abroad.

In the letter, the AAC argued that granting its requests would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and equal access to public institutions, regardless of political affiliation.

The party cited arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement, insisting that opposition parties should receive comparable treatment.

“On behalf of the African Action Congress (AAC), I respectfully write to request approval to hold the inauguration ceremony of our Presidential Campaign Council on the 11th of November 2026 at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, in preparation for the 2027 general elections,” the letter read.

The party further stated that its request for food, drinks and logistical support was consistent with the principle of equal treatment among political parties.

“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for participants at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” it stated.

The AAC maintained that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination and urged the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness by considering the requests.

“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the party added.

The party also asked the President to communicate the applicable procedures and conditions for approving the proposed ceremony.

The request comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the AAC seeking to inaugurate its campaign council ahead of the polls.

The Presidency had yet to respond to the request, according to the information available in the letter.
