Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a two-week ultimatum to the contractor handling the Oduigbo Ochanja market project in Onitsha, demanding completion of the project or risk contract termination.

During an inspection of the construction site in Onitsha South Local Government Area on Saturday, Soludo expressed frustration over the slow pace of work, despite the project commencing last year.

“We will give him another two weeks and send somebody to come and check in the next two weeks. If it still hasn’t been done, we will chase him out and bring another person who will do it fast,” Soludo stated.

He emphasized the importance of delivering a modern market, equipped with essential amenities like modern toilets, boreholes, streetlights, and ample parking space to enhance the shopping experience.

Additionally, the governor underscored the state’s commitment to skill development, having already trained over 5,000 youths and planned grants for another 8,300 this year.

Soludo also vowed to keep Anambra free from “fake prophets” and promote a culture of hard work among its citizens.
