The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has dismissed allegations of sexual harassment made against him by a woman identified as Tracy Nither Ohiri, describing the claim as unfounded and driven by social media attention.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Umahi said the accusation lacked credibility and should not be taken seriously. He maintained that throughout his years in public service, no individual male or female had ever accused him of harassment.

The minister referenced Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that if a well-known public figure such as her had made the allegation, he would have treated the matter differently. According to him, the current claim does not warrant the level of attention it has received.

Umahi also addressed criticism linked to claims that he refused to pay a woman for services rendered after she allegedly declined his advances. He denied owing anyone, insisting that he has always fulfilled his financial obligations.

Reflecting on his eight-year tenure as governor, Umahi said he worked closely with both men and women without any record of misconduct, adding that his achievements in infrastructure development should not be overshadowed by what he described as a mischievous allegation.

He urged Nigerians to move past the controversy, saying the issue was being amplified online, and called for greater focus on more serious national and international matters rather than personal accusations.
