Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has dismissed the emerging political alliance aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, saying the effort is bound to fail.

He argued that Nigerians are fully behind President Tinubu and would continue to support his administration to ensure the full impact of ongoing reforms is realized. Sanwo-Olu described the coalition, believed to include opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, Nasir el-Rufai, and Rauf Aregbesola, as a distraction with no real substance.

Speaking in Lagos, the governor accused the group of trying to divert attention from the progress being made, particularly in areas like infrastructure development, tax reforms, improved oil production, student loans, increased revenue for states, and the new national minimum wage.

He insisted that President Tinubu’s leadership is yielding visible results and should not be derailed by political schemes. Sanwo-Olu also dismissed concerns about the role of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party reportedly being used to launch the coalition, calling it insignificant in the bigger picture.

Describing Tinubu as a visionary leader, he said the President has continued to earn public trust and support through decisive governance and policies aimed at economic recovery.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the coalition is simply a group of dissatisfied politicians lacking any clear direction or agenda. He advised the President to ignore them and stay focused on delivering on his mandate, reassuring him of backing from millions of Nigerians who recognize the challenges of leading the country and appreciate the strides made so far.
