First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, as part of efforts aimed at fostering peace, unity and national development.

The visit took place at the Sultan’s palace in Sokoto and was welcomed by Governor Ahmad Aliyu, who described it as a demonstration of the close relationship between the Presidency, the Sultanate and the people of the state.

In a statement shared on his official X account, the governor said the meeting highlighted the important role of collaboration between government and traditional institutions in tackling national challenges and promoting the welfare of citizens.

Aliyu also praised the First Lady for her humanitarian interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative, saying the programme has continued to support vulnerable Nigerians and contribute to the country’s development.

He further expressed appreciation for her remarks about Sokoto State and the Sultan, noting that the visit reinforced existing ties among the Federal Government, the Sokoto State Government and the Sultanate.

The governor offered prayers for the Sultan’s continued good health and wisdom, while wishing President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady success in their efforts to serve the nation. He also prayed for lasting peace, progress and prosperity in Sokoto State and across Nigeria.
