Today’s Scripture

The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
Today’s Word
When the prophet Samuel came to anoint one of Jesse’s eight sons as the next king, Jesse didn’t even bring his youngest son, David, into the house. In Jesse’s mind, David didn’t measure up to his brothers, yet when Samuel saw David, he immediately declared David to be the next king. Jesse had a king in his house, one of the greatest men who ever lived, but he didn’t see it. He only looked at the outside. Jesse couldn’t see the giant killer, the army general, the songwriter, the musician, the history maker.
Don’t be like Jesse and have a king or a queen in your life, especially in your own home, and not recognize them. You don’t know the gifts God has put in your children. You could be raising the next David, the next world changer, the next great worship leader. All they need is your blessing and encouragement, to know that you believe in them, to get a boost that will help them go further than they ever thought possible.
Prayer for Today
Father, thank You that You created me to speak words of life, blessing, and encouragement into the people around me, and especially to my family. Help me to recognize the kings and queens in my life and to stir up their dreams and give them permission to succeed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
