The senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has revealed that individuals linked to the presidency have made moves to persuade her to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during an interview on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, the lawmaker said the overtures were recent but stressed that she has no intention of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Natasha, pressure to switch political platforms is not new to her. She recalled facing similar challenges in the past, including suggestions that she should relocate her political ambition following her marriage, but said she has consistently chosen to stand her ground.
She noted that her brief time in the APC was at the very early stage of her political journey, adding that she has since found stability and fulfilment within the PDP. The senator maintained that she does not feel compelled to follow political trends or give in to persuasion.
Natasha explained that beyond the presidency, some of her colleagues have also approached her, even as recently as the previous day, urging her to consider joining the ruling party. However, she said she values her independence and peace of mind, which she believes her current party offers.
The Kogi lawmaker also encouraged women interested in politics to remain resilient, acknowledging that the journey can be demanding but insisting that strength and resolve are essential for survival in the political space.
She concluded by reiterating that she is comfortable where she is and sees no reason to abandon the PDP for the APC at this time.
