According to Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, two suspected kidnappers were killed by police operatives on the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin road. This incident occurred during an attempt to rescue abducted Indian nationals—Tejaram Chauhan, Kaduwal Pradhan, and Medani Kathiwada—who had been kidnapped on Friday.

The police recovered a sum of N7.9 million, along with 1,500 Indian rupees, believed to be part of the ransom. The operation was initiated after the manager of Breeze Company Nigeria Limited, located on the Ibadan-Lagos expressway, reported a kidnapping incident involving his principals. The gang had previously attacked two vehicles at Kajola junction along the Sagamu-Siun-Abeokuta expressway.

The first vehicle, with a police escort, managed to escape after exchanging fire with the kidnappers. However, three Indian nationals in the second vehicle were kidnapped. A joint effort involving the anti-kidnapping section of the command and other local security agents led to a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers in the forest along Benin-Sagamu-Papalanto.

During the encounter, two kidnappers were neutralised, and various weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, a single barrel locally made gun, a sword, criminal charms, and ammunition, were recovered. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang who fled the scene.
