Nigerian entertainers in the United Kingdom are being urged to be more careful in their interactions following the remand of popular dancer and hypeman, Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, over alleged sexual offences.
Poco Lee is currently in custody in the UK after appearing before Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.
He is facing five charges, including one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
The case has been adjourned until September 15, 2026, when Poco Lee is expected to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing. The court has also restricted the publication of information that could reveal the identity of the complainant.
The entertainer reportedly travelled to the UK for the Davido and Friends event held at Crystal Palace Bowl on August 14.
Following the development, his management has appealed for restraint, stressing that the allegations remain allegations and should not be treated as proof of guilt. The team also dismissed reports concerning drink-spiking, explaining that such claims are not connected to the charges before the court.
The case has triggered discussions within the Nigerian entertainment industry, with some celebrities and fans highlighting the need for greater awareness of consent and legal boundaries when Nigerians travel abroad.
Singer Koko Pee, whose real name is Okokowa Jerry, appeared to address the issue humorously by unveiling what he described as “intention forms” and “consent forms” ahead of his planned UK show.
He said the documents were designed to establish that any woman who chooses to have an intimate relationship with him has done so willingly. The forms reportedly contain personal details and declarations relating to voluntary and sober consent.
Meanwhile, streamer and content creator Carter Efe has also received warnings from some fans after videos of him socialising with women in London circulated online.
Some social media users referenced Poco Lee’s situation while advising Carter Efe to be cautious about his activities in the UK.
Singer Portable, who is also currently in Britain, has similarly been urged by fans to be careful in his dealings with female admirers.
The reactions have intensified conversations about consent, personal responsibility and the legal consequences Nigerian entertainers could face while working or socialising overseas.
As Poco Lee awaits his next court appearance on September 15, his case continues to draw attention from the Nigerian entertainment industry and the wider public.
