Fuji music legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has made a heartfelt plea to President Bola Tinubu, requesting the pardon of Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, a prominent Yoruba Nation agitator.
K1 De Ultimate expressed his desire for Igboho to be allowed to return to Nigeria during a live performance, emphasizing the importance of peace and unity in the country.
Sunday Igboho’s story began in July 2021 when he was apprehended by Interpol at Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
The Department of State Services (DSS) had declared him wanted before his arrest, alleging that he had stockpiled weapons in his residence.
Following his arrest, Igboho was held in a prison in Benin Republic. However, in March 2022, he was released on the condition that he would receive medical attention in the West African country and refrain from leaving.
Since his release, Sunday Igboho has remained restricted within the confines of Cotonou.
In light of this situation, K1 De Ultimate used his platform to sing passionately about the need for peace and unity, urging President Tinubu to consider pardoning Igboho. He emphasized the importance of reconciling all parties involved and fostering Nigeria’s unity.
“Asiwaju, please extend your forgiveness to anyone who has wronged you. Regardless of their ethnic background—be it Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa—we need to embrace one another. Akanbi, please allow Sunday Igboho to return home; he is one of our own. ‘Omo eni o sedi bebere, ka fi ileke si idi omo elomi’ (the borrowed translation is — ‘One cannot say because one’s daughter has ample buttocks he would put the waistbeads on another man’s daughter’).”
K1 De Ultimate went on to request President Tinubu’s intervention in resolving this contentious issue once he assumes office. He suggested bringing together various agitators from different regions for a roundtable discussion with their respective leaders. He expressed his belief in President Tinubu’s ability to accomplish this task, adding, “I know it is what you can do, and you can do it.”
In addition to his plea, Kwam 1 prayed for the success of Tinubu’s administration, showing his support and well wishes for the future.
