Devastating floods and landslides have left a trail of destruction across northern Nepal, killing at least 160 people and leaving hundreds missing, including 403 tourists.

Torrents of muddy water and debris swept through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, destroying homes, roads and other infrastructure. Images from the affected areas show buildings partially submerged or buried under thick layers of mud, while vehicles and other debris were scattered by the powerful floodwaters.

Rescue workers have been deployed to search for survivors and evacuate residents from areas at risk of further flooding.

The disaster has also caused significant damage to Nepal’s electricity infrastructure and disrupted power supplies. On the Chinese side of the border, a mudslide at a key trading hub has also left people dead and missing. Authorities remain on alert amid fears that a river blockage could trigger another flood.
