In a significant move to enhance security operations, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has provided solar power systems to all security agencies in the area.
This initiative, distributed on January 31, aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply for key agencies like the police, NSCDC, DSS, and Amotekun Corp.
At a Security Council meeting held at the LG Secretariat in Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan, Olatunji explained that the solar power systems are part of his administration’s broader strategy to improve operational efficiency among security agencies.
“Security is a top priority for my administration, in line with the vision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde. We must provide our officers with the necessary resources to ensure they operate effectively,” Olatunji said.
The solar initiative is expected to boost the responsiveness and effectiveness of the security agencies, especially during the night when power outages often hinder operations. “The distribution of solar power systems is one of the many steps we are taking to enhance security in Oluyole,” Olatunji added.
In addition to bolstering security operations, Olatunji confirmed that the 43 Primary Healthcare Centres in Oluyole would receive solar power systems by next week, further supporting essential services in the local government.
The heads of the security agencies were quick to express their appreciation, with one noting, “This is a timely intervention. It will certainly enhance our ability to carry out community policing efficiently.”
Earlier in 2024, Olatunji had facilitated the restoration of electricity to over 15 communities, a decade-long blackout finally ended, which revitalized business activities and improved residents’ quality of life.
