Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has urged residents to disregard what he described as threats from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and turn out in large numbers to vote in the August 15 governorship election.

Speaking during a church service at Winners’ Chapel in Osogbo on Sunday, Adeleke accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji; Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi; and the Director-General of the AMBO Campaign Council, Hon. Wole Oke, of unleashing violence on the people of the state.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the alleged intimidation would not stop Osun people from exercising their democratic rights.

“Because the people have rejected them, because voters have endorsed me, because defeat stared them in the face, they resorted to violence. We are not scared. Osun people are not afraid.

“On August 15, Osun people will show agents of violence that we are not cowards. Our people’s safety is guaranteed. Come out and vote. Punish those killing and maiming our people by voting against them on August 15,” he said.

Adeleke disclosed that his administration had recorded achievements in workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors, insisting that the APC could not match his performance in office.

He expressed confidence of securing another term, saying he would defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, at the poll and urged residents to defend their right to vote.

Earlier, the Resident Pastor of Winners’ Chapel, Pastor Adekunle Oluseyi, declared the month a season of “reign and showers of blessings” and prayed for wisdom for the governor.
