Ahmed Isah, popularly known as Ordinary President, on Monday ordered the shutdown of the popular Human Rights Radio and Television program, Brekete Family, to protest the arrest and detention of minors during the #EndBadGovernance protest.

The Media recalls that there was an outrage across the country on Friday following the arraignment of 76 hunger protesters, including minors, at an Abuja Federal High Court.

Some of the suspects collapsed while waiting to be arraigned in court.

The defendants, who were arrested in Abuja, Kaduna, Gombe, Jos, Katsina, and Kano states, have been accused of treason, among other offenses.

The court granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each, while the prosecutor requested that the names of those who collapsed be removed from the charges.

This development has continued to gain both local and international attention, with several stakeholders condemning the Nigerian government.

In protest against the arraignment of the minors, the Abuja-based Human Rights Radio was shut down on Monday.

Ahmed Isah, who owns and anchors the radio program every weekday, was not in the studio in the morning due to what he described as the shock he experienced upon learning about the children’s conditions after their arraignment on Friday.

He called in through the phone around 8:20 a.m. during the live program, where he expressed his anger about the situation and ordered the station to be shut down immediately.

He said, “Terminate the programme, and this is part of our protest. Tell every complainant to go home. The government should do the right thing.

“Tomorrow, we are not going to do the programme. We will open the phone lines, and Nigerians will call in.

“Nigerians will call from all over the world until these children are released unconditionally.”
