Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved a total of N634 million to cover the 2024/2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) fees for 23,048 public secondary school students in the state.

The decision, revealed in a statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, aims to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians.

“The payment of WASSCE registration fees for public secondary school candidates in Ondo State has been a significant relief for parents, guardians, and stakeholders, especially amid prevailing economic challenges,” the statement noted.

The funding will cover students who successfully passed the Joint Senior Secondary School II Promotion Examination conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

The initiative seeks to ensure equitable access to education and enable all eligible candidates to take the crucial examination without financial hindrance.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting education, emphasizing that “this initiative effectively reduces disparities among students from varying socio-economic backgrounds,” promoting access to higher education and professional opportunities.
