The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, has said the performance of the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, within three and a half years in office was enough to get him reelected.

Oba Akanbi spoke in his palace in Iwo when Governor Oyetola and his campaign team, who were in Iwo Federal Constituency for a reelection campaign, paid him a courtesy visit.

Oba Akanbi, who described Iwo as the home of progressive politics in Yorubaland, said the town had never been disappointed for being loyal to progressive government and called on his subjects to unite and ensure that Oyetola emerged victorious in the July 16 governorship poll.

He said, “Let’s work in unison to retain Oyetola and ensure the victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next year’s general elections. As you can see, the results of the last governorship election was not too good.

“But I can assure you that now, it will be much better, particularly from Iwo land. We have 30 kings with 48 ruling houses with numerous chiefs. We can’t find it difficult to speak to them. I want to assure you that by the grace of God that enthroned us, you will emerge.”

Speaking in similar vein while receiving Oyetola and his team in their palace, Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude and Olu of Ile-Ogbo, Oba Abeeb Agbajelola, said the governor had worked for second term in view of his modest achievements in the last three and a half years.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ismail Omipidan, on Thursday, said Oyetola, while addressing party supporters in the communities, visited and highlighted some of the achievements of his administration in the last three and a half years.

According to him, despite the pocket of challenges faced shortly after he came on board, he was still able to record many achievements.

He urged those who had not collected their Permanent Voter Cards to do so, as it remained the only power to vote for continuity of  good governance.
