Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has announced that he has joined the United States Army, describing the achievement as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream and a tribute to his late father, who served in the Nigeria Police Force.
The actor shared the news on Instagram on Friday, where he reflected on the demanding journey through Basic Combat Training. He said the programme tested both his physical and mental strength, with months of intense drills, long days and limited contact with the outside world.
Momodu said there were moments when he doubted himself but remained determined to complete the training. He noted that the experience transformed him from a civilian into a soldier after 10 weeks of rigorous preparation.
According to him, his enlistment on April 12, 2026, was a special way of honouring his father, who passed away 20 years ago. He said joining the U.S. Army allowed him to continue his family’s tradition of public service.
The actor revealed that he has graduated from Basic Combat Training and now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Momodu dedicated the milestone to God, his late father and members of the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
He also thanked everyone who supported him throughout the process, including his social media manager and the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, saying he is excited to begin the next chapter of his military career.
