Nigerian actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has regained his freedom following more than three years behind bars on sexual assault charges.
The actor was released on Friday, November 14, 2025, after the Appeal Court cleared him of all allegations related to the case. Baba Ijesha had previously been sentenced to 16 years in prison by the Lagos State High Court in July 2022 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Following the court’s decision, actor Yomi Fabiyi took to Instagram to celebrate Baba Ijesha’s release. He described the actor’s exoneration as a victory for justice, emphasizing that the accusations against him were unfounded.
Fabiyi wrote that Baba Ijesha was now “officially free” and “better,” while criticizing how sentiments and falsehoods can sometimes overshadow the rule of law.
