The member representing Akoko North-East and North-West Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Hon. Ifeoluwa Ehindero, has refuted claims that the National Assembly is a rubber stamp to the executive under President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview in Abuja yesterday, Ehindero, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Reformatory Institutions, emphasized that the collaboration between the legislature and the executive is a natural result of the shared legislative experience of both President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
“Those who criticize this relationship as being a rubber-stamp approach simply fail to understand the essence of strategic governance,” Ehindero stated. “Effective leadership requires building bridges and working across diverse groups for the collective good of the people.”
Ehindero also highlighted his ongoing efforts to support his constituency, revealing that he is championing a bill to establish a Federal College of Education in the region.
The bill, which passed its first reading in October 2024, is currently in the second reading stage and will soon undergo a public hearing before moving to the Senate for concurrence.
“I am committed to expanding employment opportunities for youth, improving healthcare services, and training transport unions and traditional rulers to enhance community leadership,” Ehindero added.
“Road construction is another top priority, and I am working tirelessly to secure funding for critical infrastructure projects.”
