Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has appealed to residents across Kogi State to participate actively in the ongoing voter card revalidation exercise announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

In a message to mark the 2026 Easter celebration, the lawmaker congratulated Christians in the state and described the season as a time for reflection, renewal, and hope. She linked the spirit of Easter with the need for citizens to take responsibility for the future of their communities through civic engagement.

Akpoti-Uduaghan encouraged eligible voters to ensure their details are updated through the revalidation process, noting that participation in electoral activities remains one of the strongest ways citizens can influence leadership and governance.

She stressed that voter involvement goes beyond a routine obligation, describing it as a means of strengthening democratic accountability. According to her, residents can complete the process either online or at designated physical centres.

The senator also used the occasion to call for harmony among residents, urging people to set aside ethnic, religious, and political differences in the interest of peace and development. She said unity remains essential for the progress and security of the state.

Her appeal comes as the electoral commission prepares to begin a nationwide update of the voters’ register aimed at removing ineligible entries, including records of deceased persons, non-Nigerians, underage individuals, and cases of multiple registrations.

The commission clarified that the exercise is not a fresh voter registration but applies to individuals captured in the register between 2011 and 2024, as part of broader efforts to improve the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral database ahead of future elections.
