Nasarawa State House of Assembly has instructed the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to compile and submit a comprehensive list of all mining sites within the state.

The directive was issued by Adamu Omadefu, Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, during a budget assessment meeting with the ministry’s management on Monday.

Omadefu stressed the urgency of addressing illegal mining, citing its detrimental impact on the environment and local communities.

He stated that the House was deeply concerned about the escalating reports of illegal mining activities in the state.

“It is imperative that we have a detailed understanding of all existing mining sites to enforce regulations effectively and protect our natural resources,” Omadefu stated.
