The lawmaker representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Mohammed El-Rufai, has marked the 27th wedding anniversary of his parents, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and his wife, Asia.
Mohammed celebrated the couple in a Facebook post on Friday, highlighting his mother’s influence on the family and her commitment to helping others.
He described Asia as a highly intelligent and compassionate woman whose support for vulnerable people extended beyond her immediate family. According to him, she played an important role in supporting widows and orphans while his father served as Kaduna State governor.
The lawmaker also recalled his mother’s involvement in his upbringing, particularly when she returned him to Zaria Academy during his JSS1 years.
Mohammed said the values and lessons his mother instilled in him had continued to influence his work as a representative of Kaduna North.
He further reflected on the couple’s marriage, noting that he had seen his mother stand by his father through various stages of his life.
While celebrating their years together, Mohammed expressed concern over what he described as his father’s “illegal detention,” saying his mother’s strength and presence had remained a source of comfort.
He described 27 years of marriage as an important milestone and praised his parents for the memories they had created and the impact they had made on people around them.
Mohammed prayed for continued good health, peace and happiness for his parents, while asking residents of Kaduna North to remember the couple in their prayers.
