A man has been charged with murder after his sister was found stabbed to death in south-east London.
Police discovered 57-year-old Margaret Cunningham when called to an address on Greenland Quay, Surrey Quays, at about 3pm on Friday.
Detectives revealed they received multiple calls from passers-by who saw Mrs Cunningham being attacked.
Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance also attended and the victim was taken to hospital where she later died from stab wounds.
Andrew Cunningham, 61, was arrested at the scene near Rotherhithe.
He has since been accused of murdering his younger sister and will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, the Metropolitan Police said.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who is leading the investigation, said: “We received multiple calls from members of the public close to the scene with concerns for the victim yesterday afternoon.
“Officers, together with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, responded quickly but, sadly, the woman died in hospital.
“Our specialist crime command are continuing inquiries today and, at this stage, we believe that this was an isolated incident with the man and woman known to each other.”
A police cordon remains in place at the scene and forensic officers were still at the waterfront property.
