Popular fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, known as KWAM 1, has been rejected by the Fusengbuwa ruling house in Ijebu Ode in his bid for the prestigious Awujale throne. The ruling house disowned his claim, saying he has no connection to the Jadiara royal family, a unit of Fusengbuwa.
Despite submitting a letter of intent and lineage data form, KWAM 1’s documents were dismissed as invalid. The Fusengbuwa family pointed out that the person who endorsed his form had no authority to do so. The ruling house emphasized that he had no prior involvement with family affairs and that his claim was baseless.
KWAM 1, however, insists he has legitimate royal roots, tracing his lineage to both the Funsengbuwa and Fidipote ruling houses. He argues that his heritage qualifies him to contest for the throne.
The Jadiara and Bubiade royal families, along with other related lineages, have confirmed publicly that KWAM 1 has no genealogical link to their houses, effectively ending his bid for the Awujale stool.
The Fusengbuwa ruling house will hold its nomination meeting on December 15 to select eligible candidates for the next Awujale.
