North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has reportedly banned the broadcast of Tottenham Hotspur matches due to the presence of South Korean players, specifically Son Heung-min, the team’s captain.
The decision means the North Korean public will not be able to watch Tottenham’s upcoming match against Manchester United, a club Kim is known to support.
The move is part of a broader trend of restricting football broadcasts featuring South Korean players. Last year, North Korea also omitted matches involving Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have South Korean striker Hwang Hee-chan, and Brentford, which includes defender Kim Ji-soo.
In North Korea, football broadcasts are heavily edited, with games shortened from 90 minutes to just 60, and often aired months after the matches take place, usually before state news bulletins.
