Iran launched fresh attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain on Saturday, striking a second electricity and water plant in Kuwait and prompting Bahrain to activate its air defence systems to repel multiple aerial assaults.
Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water said the latest strike caused a fire at one of the plant’s components, forcing several power generation units to shut down. The attack came a day after another power and water facility in the country was damaged in a similar incident.
Kuwait’s fire service said the attacks sparked fires at two locations, leaving several firefighters and a worker injured. The violence also disrupted air travel, with Kuwait Airways rescheduling most flights after operations at Kuwait International Airport were temporarily suspended because of rocket and drone attacks.
In Bahrain, the military said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial threats. The Interior Ministry said air raid sirens sounded several times from early Saturday, urging residents to seek shelter.
Iran’s military said it targeted the US-operated Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain in retaliation for recent American strikes, claiming the operation focused on aircraft shelters, fuel storage facilities and other military infrastructure.
The latest attacks mark a further escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States and its regional allies, raising fresh concerns over security and stability across the Gulf.
