The Oyo State Government has introduced a nighttime restriction on commercial motorcycle operations as part of efforts to address rising insecurity in the state.

Governor Seyi Makinde announced the measure through an executive order issued on Friday, saying it was aimed at strengthening security and reducing criminal activity across communities.

Under the new directive, commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as okada riders, are barred from operating between 10:30pm and 5:30am statewide.

The governor said the decision was part of broader security steps being taken in response to recent abductions, including the kidnapping of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.

He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the victims, adding that security agencies were actively working on rescue operations.

Makinde noted that while details of the operations could not be disclosed for security reasons, the government remained fully committed and engaged behind the scenes.

He also urged residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious activities and using emergency communication channels to alert authorities when necessary.
