The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, has revealed that he is using his global evangelism mission as a form of “revenge” against the devil, following the death of his first wife, Abiodun Kumuyi, in 2009.

Speaking during the Global Workers’ Conference at the Deeper Life International Conference Centre, Kumuyi opened up about the painful loss, attributing it to his absence while ministering at a church retreat.

“I was preaching here on Saturday, 11th April 2009, and the devil worked on my absence,” he said. “My wife was at home because she had a challenge… and when I finished the Faith Clinic that morning, I received a message that my beloveth wife was gone.”

Abiodun Kumuyi died at the age of 57 after a brief illness. The couple, who married in 1980, had two children together — Jeremiah and John. Kumuyi later remarried in 2010.

Despite the tragedy, the respected preacher said he chose not to dwell on sorrow but instead channelled his grief into intensified ministry efforts across the world.

“I let it go, but from that day, I said ‘that one happened, this other one will no more happen,’” he declared.

“Since that time, for me to revenge on the devil, I have gone to many places… I have covered most of the local governments in Nigeria, I have gone to almost all the nations of Africa, I have gone to all the continents of the world,” he said.

According to Kumuyi, his ministry has since recorded numerous miracles. “Blind eyes have opened, deaf ears have opened, the lame had risen up and walk and now… the dead has now been raised.”

He added with conviction, “Anywhere I go, now I will be in charge. Nothing will be allowed to steal anything away.”

Kumuyi described the loss of his wife as “water under the bridge” and declared that going forward, no such tragedy would be allowed in his household or ministry.
