Chief Lekan Alabi, a respected journalist, author and traditional titleholder in Ibadan, has died at the age of 76.

 

Alabi, who held the title of Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, passed away on Saturday in Lagos.

 

His death was confirmed in a statement released by Adeola Oloko, media aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

 

Beyond his traditional role, Alabi was widely recognised for his career in journalism and for serving as press secretary to several former governors of Oyo State.

 

According to the statement, he will be laid to rest on Sunday in line with Islamic rites.

 

Further details surrounding his death have not yet been made public.
