Nigerian musician, Ice Prince has set the record straight, revealing that he was the first African artist to receive a BET award on stage, not Davido, as many have believed.

In an appearance on the show Listening, Ice Prince clarified that he won the Best International Act: Africa award in 2013, becoming the first African artist to break the tradition of receiving BET awards backstage. Despite this, fans often mistakenly credit Davido for this achievement.

In 2018, Davido made headlines with his acceptance speech after winning the Best International Act award at the BET Awards, where he called for increased collaboration between U.S. and African artists.

However, Ice Prince emphasized that he was the pioneer of receiving a BET award on stage.
