Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Nigerian Senate, has said he feels thrilled whenever opposition parties react angrily to laws passed by the Senate.
Speaking on Saturday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, during a reception for the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Akpabio explained that opposition outrage is a sign that the Senate is on the right path.
“Each time we make a law and the opposition frowns, I get excited that I’ve made the right law,” he said.
On the issue of opposition threats to boycott the 2027 presidential election, Akpabio dismissed such claims, saying they reflect unreadiness for the contest. “If they are truly ready, they wouldn’t consider boycotting,” he added, referring to the debate over the Amended Electoral Act.
