Actor and content creator Yemi Elesho has shared a heartwarming story about his long-standing friendship with award-winning singer Asake.
During a TikTok live session with Jigan, Elesho revealed how they met as undergraduates at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where they began collaborating on movies and skits.
“They are my ‘day-one,’ my very good friend,” Elesho fondly recalled, speaking about their bond formed at university. Reflecting on their early days together, Elesho shared that his payments to Asake for performing in films were often humble but memorable:
“I used to give Asake a ₦700 plate of rice and a bottle of Coca-Cola as performance fees for him to feature in movies during our undergraduate days at OAU.”
Elesho also reminisced about the lighter moments of their friendship, including playing celebrity football matches and capturing countless memories through photos and videos.
“We used to play celebrity football matches together back in the day,” he added.
The actor’s affection for Asake, whom he referred to as a “very good friend,” highlights the deep and personal history the two share, far before Asake’s rise to fame.
