The Nigerian government has denied any plans to dissolve the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), emphasizing its continued importance in the regional growth agenda. Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, made this clarification during the 2025 ministerial briefing in Abuja on Friday.
“The NDDC remains a crucial part of our efforts in driving regional development,” Momoh affirmed. “The Niger Delta Ministry was integrated into the Ministry of Regional Development, which now oversees multiple development commissions.”
Momoh highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects in the region, including the completion or near completion of key road networks such as the Perigolo-Ugria-Gonjero Road in Delta State, and the Agoti-Mbaka Road in the same region.
The minister also revealed that 250,000 start-up grants are being provided to 300 youths who successfully completed vocational training in 2023 in the Niger Delta.
