Fuji singer Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, was laid to rest on Friday, January 23, 2026, at his father’s home in Ayetoro Yewa, Ogun State. The ceremony drew family members, friends, colleagues, and fans, marking the end of the life of the young musician, who passed away at 22 after battling a prolonged illness.

 

The final rites were emotional, with Destiny Boy’s body carried on a traditional mat to its resting place, accompanied by mourners expressing their grief. Family representatives described him as kind-hearted, humble, and hardworking, noting that his music and personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

 

Destiny Boy’s mother, Saidat Adeshina, revealed that his health struggles began two years ago while preparing for the naming ceremony of his first child. Despite seeking both medical and traditional remedies, he succumbed to illness on January 17.

 

The family also addressed rumors surrounding the singer’s death, including a viral audio clip falsely suggesting his mother had cursed him. Ogun State police have since arrested a suspect in connection with his passing.

 

Born on June 24, 2003, Destiny Boy grew up in a close-knit family that shaped his values. From an early age, he displayed calmness, respect, and ambition, using music as a channel for self-expression. His dedication and perseverance earned him recognition across Nigeria, as colleagues praised his discipline and eagerness to learn.

Beyond his music career, Destiny Boy embraced family responsibilities early.

 

He was married to Oluwatoyin, and the couple welcomed a son, Usman Obatide, on November 12, 2024. Loved ones remember him for balancing his rising career with devotion to his family, carrying responsibilities with maturity beyond his years.
