Afrobeats star Davido has announced a two-month suspension of his music career to actively campaign for the re-election of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The Grammy-nominated artiste made the disclosure on Tuesday in Ede, Osun State, during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team. He said the decision was aimed at strengthening grassroots political mobilisation in support of the governor’s second-term bid.

Addressing members of the committee, which he chairs, Davido said he was committing his time and influence to ensure electoral victory.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done,” he said.

“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths.”

He urged members of the mobilisation team to embark on intensive grassroots engagement across all local government areas in the state.

“Let us carry out door-to-door mobilisation across all local governments, showcasing what the governor has achieved and what he intends to do. Engage people within your communities and communicate the governor’s programmes effectively,” he added.

Mutiu Oladimeji; Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Tomiwa Babalola; Ijesha South Federal Constituency, Hon. Mayowa Oloso; Ijesha North Federal Constituency, Hon. Olatunji Awodiran.

Others are Ila Federal Constituency, Otunba Tunde Badmus; Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Hon. Dapo Okunola; Ede/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Majeed Salami; Irewole Federal Constituency, Chief Owodunni Abiodun Ramon; and Iwo Federal Constituency, Hon. Deji Bello.
