Nigeria’s energy market has recorded another price adjustment as Dangote Refinery increased the gantry price of diesel to ₦1,750 per litre.

The latest change represents a ₦250 increase from the previous ₦1,500 per litre rate. Notably, that earlier price had only recently been moved up from ₦1,430, showing a rapid sequence of upward revisions within a short period.

Sources familiar with operations at the refinery indicated that the new pricing took effect immediately, reflecting mounting cost pressures within the sector.

Analysts link the adjustment to several factors, including the rise in global crude oil prices, foreign exchange challenges, and increasing operational expenses such as feedstock procurement and distribution logistics. Because diesel is fully deregulated in Nigeria, its pricing remains closely tied to international market conditions.

The increase is expected to have a ripple effect across the economy. Businesses that depend on diesel for power generation and transportation may face higher operating costs, which could in turn push up prices of goods and services.
