Chidimma Adetshina, Nigeria’s representative at the 73rd Miss Universe competition has made her mark on the global stage, finishing as the first runner-up at the prestigious event held in Mexico City on Sunday.
The finale, which took place at the Arena CDMX, saw a thrilling showdown between Adetshina and Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig.
Ultimately, Theilvig claimed the coveted crown, succeeding Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
In an emotional post-competition interview shared by the Miss Universe Nigeria organization, Adetshina expressed her excitement and pride, saying, “I’m so excited. I don’t have words to describe what I’m feeling right now, but I’m so proud of myself, and I just made history!”
Adetshina’s achievement comes after a fierce competition among 126 contestants from around the world, including 18 African nations.
Her poise, confidence, and exceptional performance throughout the competition earned her widespread admiration from judges and spectators.
This momentous achievement follows a challenging year for Adetshina.
Earlier in 2024, she withdrew from the Miss South Africa competition at the final stage due to a nationality controversy.
Despite the setback, Adetshina’s resolve remained strong.Shortly after, she received an invitation to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria, where she emerged as the winner, representing Taraba State.
