The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Wendy Laing, has expressed her sadness at leaving Africa’s most populous nation after a four-and-a-half-year tour of duty.
During a farewell visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja, Laing stated that she is fascinated by Nigeria, particularly its music, dance, and culture, and that she had a “fabulous time” in the country.
She congratulated President Buhari on a successful eight years in office and stated that the UK was a second home for many Nigerians, with strong relations between the two countries set to continue.
The President, in turn, commended the UK for its cooperation in various areas, particularly in the rebuilding of the North East, which was previously affected by insurgency.
President Buhari also stated that he was looking forward to retirement in Daura, Katsina State, after handing over on May 29.
