The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced that the Anambra governorship primary election will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital. The party also unveiled detailed guidelines for the smooth execution of the primary.
A statement issued by Ifeanyi Mbaeri, the National Organizing Secretary of APGA, disclosed that a five-member electoral committee, led by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Uche Nwegbo, would oversee the event.
“The primary election shall commence at 8 am prompt with accreditation of delegates and observers,” Mbaeri noted. “Accreditation will take place outside the premises of Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, on the tarred road leading to the New Government House.”
The guidelines outlined strict protocols for the accreditation process, specifying that delegates and observers must present valid identification, including National ID Cards, international passports, voter’s cards, or any government-issued ID. All delegates will be required to wear identification tags throughout the election process.
“Only duly accredited delegates and observers shall be allowed access into the premises,” the statement emphasized, warning that non-delegates or unauthorized persons would be prohibited from the venue.
Voting will proceed via a balloting system, with delegates required to mark either ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ on the ballot paper. Votes will be counted and the results will be announced after sorting.
The APGA also reminded participants that the primary election will be conducted in accordance with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act 2022, and INEC guidelines.
