The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed calls for a review of the outcomes of its recently concluded primaries, insisting that the process has been completed and the party is preparing to submit the names of successful candidates for the 2027 general elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Party officials said the deadline for appeals has passed and there are no plans to revisit the results despite petitions and protests from aggrieved aspirants in several states.
According to senior APC figures, most of the appeals submitted after the primaries did not present sufficient grounds to warrant changes to the outcomes. The officials maintained that issues raised in many petitions were either unrelated to the conduct of the primaries or had already been addressed through the party’s appeal process.
The development comes amid disputes in states including Lagos, Delta and Rivers, where some aspirants have challenged the emergence of certain candidates.
An APC National Working Committee member also dismissed reports that President Bola Tinubu had intervened to seek a review of the primary results, stating that neither the President nor the Presidency had directed the party to alter any outcome.
The party said candidates who emerged from the primaries, including those in Lagos State, remain the recognised winners and will be submitted to INEC ahead of the commission’s July 11 deadline for candidate nominations.
However, some dissatisfied aspirants expressed hope that Tinubu could still step in before the final submission of candidates. They warned that unresolved grievances could affect party unity and its performance in the 2027 elections.
INEC is expected to release access codes to its nomination portal on June 26, paving the way for political parties to upload details of their candidates for the polls.
