The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, Comrade Chioma Grace Ifemeludike, has declared her readiness to transform Anambra into a model state if elected, vowing to implement bold reforms in education, security, healthcare, and the economy.

Speaking in an interview with Independent, Ifemeludike, a Nollywood actress turned political advocate, said her decision to join politics was inspired by AAC National Leader Omoyele Sowore.

“My passion for the country was fuelled by him. Sowore has the capacity to stand the establishment and bring Nigerians to freedom,” she said. “He is the kind of leader we’ve been ignoring. But he is right there in our faces, crying like a lone voice in the wilderness.”

Ifemeludike, who studied Political Science at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, served as a female students’ national leader during her time as a student and was later appointed AAC state chairman in Anambra. Her political journey culminated in her emergence as the party’s governorship candidate in 2024.

On her plans for Anambra, she outlined a people-centered agenda rooted in the AAC manifesto.

“Under my watch, Anambra will be where everyone will like to go to,” she said. “Our first pillar is security, peace, and trust for all. We must stop the bloodshed and address the root cause of insecurity, which is the economy.”

She emphasized that the AAC’s economic blueprint includes a green economy, agricultural mechanization, support for local fishermen, and robust investment in ICT infrastructure. “We intend to empower and diversify the agriculture sector… and create ICT centres where people can lodge their complaints,” she added.

On education, Ifemeludike promised free and quality primary and secondary education, especially in remote areas, with well-paid teachers, equipped labs, libraries, and secure learning environments.

In healthcare, she pledged free services for pregnant women and children in rural communities and the construction of hospitals and maternity clinics.

She also committed to inclusive governance, saying, “Nobody will feel oppressed. People who are agitating for one thing or the other will be given the opportunity to express themselves.”

Highlighting the importance of women and youth, she said her government would promote equal representation, ensure youth employment, and uphold the dignity of labour.

“Anambra needs a new direction. We will have prudent financial management, justice, and accountability. Under AAC, democracy and opposition will thrive. We will break the one-party system,” she concluded.
