The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards lit up Lagos on Saturday night as filmmakers, actors and digital creators gathered to celebrate excellence in African film and television.

The ceremony, held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, honoured outstanding achievements across film, TV series, and digital storytelling, with several Nigerian stars emerging among the biggest winners of the night.

Linda Ejiofor had a remarkable outing, winning Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Herd and later clinching Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift, making her one of the standout performers of the awards.

Uzor Arukwe was named Best Lead Actor for his performance in Colours of Fire, while Uche Montana received the Trailblazer Award in recognition of her rising impact in the industry.

In other major categories, My Father’s Shadow emerged as a dominant production, winning Best Movie, Best Director for Akinola Davies Jr, Best Writing (Movie) for Wale Davies, and Best Sound/Sound Design.

Colours of Fire won Best Costume Design and Best Art Direction, while To Kill a Monkey secured Best Cinematography. Warlord took home the award for Best Makeup.

On the television side, MTV Shuga Mashariki won Best Writing (TV Series), Inimba claimed Best Scripted Series and Best Indigenous M-Net Original, and Nigerian Idol was named Best Unscripted Series.

Digital creators were also recognised, with Leave To Live winning Best Digital Content Creator.

Veteran actors Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O Kanayo were honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their long-standing contributions to the industry.

The 2026 AMVCA once again highlighted the depth of talent and creativity shaping Africa’s film and television landscape, celebrating both established names and emerging voices across the continent.
