Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie delivered standout performances as the Super Falcons clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title with a dramatic 3-2 victory over host nation Morocco in Rabat.
Ajibade, who captained the Nigerian side, proved to be the heartbeat of the team throughout the tournament. Beyond her one goal and two assists, she inspired the squad with her leadership and relentless energy on the pitch. Nicknamed “the girl with the blue hair,” she earned three Woman of the Match awards during the group stage and was named among the tournament’s best eleven.
Showing true team spirit, Ajibade even handed over a penalty opportunity to Esther Okoronkwo in the final, trusting her teammate to start the comeback. Okoronkwo went on to deliver a decisive performance, earning Player of the Match.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie kept clean sheets through the early rounds and stood firm in key moments. Despite conceding twice in the final, her overall consistency and shot-stopping ability saw her named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament.
Dubbed “Mission X,” the Falcons’ 2025 campaign was centered on securing a record-breaking 10th WAFCON title — a goal they achieved with grit, resilience, and star power. The win cements Nigeria’s status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
