The burial of popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo drew widespread emotion on Thursday as mourners gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State, to pay their last respects.

 

Family members, government representatives, colleagues from the film industry, and fans converged on the community in Arochukwu for the final rites of the 40-year-old actor, who passed away after battling complications linked to advanced kidney cancer.

 

The atmosphere was heavy with grief as speakers reflected on Ekubo’s impact in Nollywood and his role in promoting positive narratives about Nigeria through film. He was widely described as a talented performer whose career helped project both his home state and the country to international audiences.

 

Representing the Abia State government, officials praised the late actor’s contribution to cultural expression and youth inspiration. They noted that his success story continued to motivate young creatives across Abia State and beyond, describing him as a proud ambassador of his roots.
