131 Nigerians stranded in Libya were on Tuesday received by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, in Ikeja, Lagos State.

The Coordinator Lagos Territorial Office, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the development in a statement.

He said the returnees included 72 adults female, six girls, four female infants, 31 men, 11 boys, and seven infant males.

Farinloye said, “NEMA has received another batch of 131 stranded Nigerian returnees from Libya. The returnees were received by the Director-General of the agency, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed, represented by the Coordinator Lagos Territorial Office, Ibrahim Farinloye.

“The returnees arrived at the cargo wing of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-800 with registration number 5A-DMG. The flight arrived Nigeria around 7.29pm

“The breakdown of the returnees showed that 72 adults female, six girls and four female infants were among the newly voluntarily assisted returnees, and 31 men, 11 boys and seven infant males completed the new batch of 131 brought back courtesy of International Organisation for Migration in a special intervention sponsored by the European Union.

“Other Agencies on ground with NEMA are Nigeria Immigration Service, National Commission for Refugees, NAPTIP, NSCDC, Nigerian Port Health, DSS and FAAN.“
