Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to lead more than 20,000 women at an All Progressives Congress mobilisation summit in Abuja on Monday as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

The Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Campaign Roll-Out is being organised by the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

The event is scheduled to begin at 8am at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, under the theme, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity.”

The campaign message for the summit is “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”

The APC women’s mobilisation directorate has set a target of securing 40 million votes from women for President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 election.

Director of the Women Mobilisation Directorate, Dr Betta Edu, said the group was strengthening its grassroots structures to increase support for the APC presidential ticket across the country.

The summit is expected to bring together women leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, community representatives, political stakeholders and grassroots organisers. Discussions will focus on women’s participation in politics, grassroots mobilisation and government programmes being promoted by the administration.

A member of the campaign council’s Women Mobilisation Planning Committee, Princess Gloria Akobundu, said programmes in education, infrastructure, social protection, consumer credit and youth empowerment would be highlighted during the mobilisation exercise.

She listed the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, CREDICORP, infrastructure projects, cash-transfer schemes and digital-skills programmes among the initiatives being promoted by the government.

According to figures cited in the report, NELFUND had processed 1,659,853 applications as of September 2026, while total disbursements reached N372.62bn by October 3. Of the amount, N192.89bn went to beneficiary institutions for fees, while N179.73bn was paid to students as upkeep allowances.

Akobundu also cited major road projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, as examples of the administration’s infrastructure projects.

She further mentioned social intervention programmes such as NG-CARES, SOLID and HOPE, which the government says are designed to support vulnerable households and improve livelihoods, healthcare, education and human capital development.

The summit comes as political parties and support groups step up preparations for the 2027 general elections. For the APC, the gathering is expected to combine women’s empowerment with early mobilisation for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

Akobundu also urged women in the South-East, particularly Imo State, to strengthen their mobilisation structures and promote the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda in their communities.

The Abuja meeting is expected to mark another major step in the APC’s efforts to build a strong women-led grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
