Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, is scheduled to speak at the United Kingdom’s House of Lords next week during an event organised by the African Leadership Organisation (ALO).
The governor will attend the programme as part of activities surrounding his recognition with the African Inspirational Leadership and Good Governance Award, presented by the organisation, which publishes African Leadership Magazine. The event is slated for July 2 and 3, 2026, at the House of Lords in Westminster, London.
During the event, Uzodimma is expected to deliver a presentation titled “From Vision to Velocity: Driving Africa’s Next Wave of Growth and Leadership – The Imo State Experience.” His address will focus on the state’s development efforts while contributing to wider discussions on governance, economic resilience, sustainable growth and leadership across Africa.
According to the organisers, the platform will also provide the governor with an opportunity to engage government officials, business leaders and other stakeholders, while highlighting Imo State’s investment potential and development initiatives.
In a letter announcing the award, African Leadership Magazine Founder and Executive Chairman, Ken Giami, said Uzodimma was selected in recognition of his administration’s implementation of the Shared Prosperity Agenda, particularly its emphasis on reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery.
Giami noted that the governor’s leadership has contributed to improvements in infrastructure, public service delivery, youth and women empowerment, institutional development and economic growth in the state. He also cited the rehabilitation and construction of more than 130 strategic roads as one of the administration’s achievements.
The organisers further said the honour places Uzodimma among notable African leaders previously recognised by the organisation, including Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, Burundi President Évariste Ndayishimiye, Gambian President Adama Barrow, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete and former African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina
