House of Representatives aspirants under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have said that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi could be removed from office by Nigerians if he becomes president in 2027 and fails to deliver on his promises.

The aspirants made the remarks during a press briefing in Abuja, where they also expressed support for a possible joint presidential ticket involving Obi and former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso. They said the alliance is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

One of the aspirants, Nnamdi Iroegbu, said any administration that emerges, including an Obi-led government, would be subject to strict public accountability. He stressed that leadership performance would determine public confidence and political survival in office.

He also said lawmakers elected under the NDC platform would push for a more independent and people-focused National Assembly, adding that they intend to take a stronger oversight role than previous assemblies.

Another aspirant, Kingsley Ndube, said their involvement in politics is driven by a desire to serve the country rather than personal benefit. He added that future legislators under the party would remain focused on public interest and continuous scrutiny of government actions.

The group also called for credible elections in 2027, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure transparency and avoid disputes during the process.

Speaking further, Gambari Ismaila praised former Bayelsa State governor Seriake Dickson, describing him as the driving force behind the formation of the party. He said the NDC and allied groups are working toward what they described as a political movement aimed at national reform.

The aspirants added that their goal is to promote accountability, unity, and equal opportunity, regardless of region, ethnicity, or background.

Meanwhile, a youth leader within COPDEM, Akor Oche, described the emerging Obi–Kwankwaso political alignment as a strong coalition that could reshape Nigeria’s political direction ahead of 2027.
