Senegal’s Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, has criticised U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of contributing to global instability during remarks made at a conference in Dakar.

Sonko made the comments while speaking at an international event focused on sovereignty and shifting global power structures. He argued that recent international actions involving the United States and Iran have not achieved their stated goals and have instead increased global tension.

According to him, efforts to limit Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities have failed to bring stability, adding that the situation has instead pushed the world into unnecessary chaos. He said the outcomes of such policies show that peace has not been achieved.

He further stated that Trump’s role in global affairs has been destabilising, describing him as a figure whose actions have worsened international tensions rather than reduced them.

The conference, held in Senegal’s capital Dakar, was organised by French political scientist Pascal Boniface and brought together experts discussing global influence and the growing role of developing countries in international decision-making.

Boniface noted at the event that global power is shifting, with countries in the Global South demanding a stronger voice and equal participation in world affairs.

Sonko also used the platform to call for greater unity among African nations, saying cooperation is necessary for achieving true sovereignty. He stressed the importance of Africa’s youth, describing them as a key force in shaping the continent’s future.
